Who was Rick Astley: Rick as born in 1966 and is an English singer who' most famous for his hit single Never gonna give you up and was a number 1 in 25 countries, it also won the 1988 Brit award for best British single. Rick retired in 1993 after selling 40 million records. Rick did release a song before Never gonna give you up where he collaborated with Lisa Carter, however this did not reach the charts. After the success of Never gonna give you up Rick went onto release Whenever you need somebody which reached number one in seven countries and number 3 in the UK. Rick retired in 1993 deciding the family was more important where he raised his child Emilie who was born in 1992, he stated he did the due to growing frustration in the business side of things. Rick has came back recently releasing a few singles and going on tour. In 2005 he released the album Portrait however this was poorly promoted as (Song BMG the record label) dislikes the album, however is managed to reach number 26 in the UK charts. What is Rickrolling: In 2007 Rick became subject of the Internet meme Rickrolling where links would take you to Never gonna give you up instead of the link you wanted to go to. The largest prank being when Youtube sent its viewers to the song when they clicked on any video on the home page. In November 2008 Rick took part in a live Rickrolling where he appeared from a float at thanksgiving which was playing the song Best friend. Once Rick appeared the song changed to never gonna give you up.

Video for never gonna give you up

Definition of Satire

Satire is the use of humour and irony to ridicule or expose certain types of media this can mainly be used in politics or trending media. This links to my music video as most people nowadays know it for its satire use by people exposing how cringey the lyrics are and the poor dancing used.

Target audience for my music video:

Never gonna give you up is a music video released in 1987 and was an instant success reaching the top of the charts and becoming a classic, it was also the song that launched Rick Astley into the spot light and got him recognized. However the song became popular in the early 2000's due to internet culture where the term "Rick rolling came from" where links would send you to the song instead of the place you actually wanted to go to. Due to this the song has a mixed target audience of people in their late 40s who remember is coming out and younger teenagers who remember the song as it was all over the internet. Others also remember it from weddings and other events due to people satirizing it.

Lyrics for my music video

Lyrics that are being used in my music video:
"Never Gonna Give You Up"

We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching, but
You're too shy to say it
Inside, we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Planning my animatic before shooting

I started of by researching what animatics were, after this I moved onto picking the song I wanted to do and printing of the lyrics. Later I started thinking up shots line by line for the lyrics.
I then went onto sketching out the shots with just basic stick figures to visualize what it was going to look like. I then went to some of my friends to find out who would be willing to be in it, once this was done I could go ahead with preparing to film. I then went onto making props and buying them in preparation for the photo shoot.

What is an animatic

A animatic is a rough draft of a film or sequence, consisting of simple story boarded panels that are timed with a soundtrack. This creates a crude draft of a film.
Animatics usually allow for a draft that can fix problems before a full animation is made. This allows for it to be easily changed.
Animatics can be simple or complex ranging from rough drawings to a finished animated sequence.
Some animatics may be able to show camera movements within a sequence, this can be used to present an complex animation layout. It also allows the client to visualize how to animation is going to look like and the animation studio can easily get feedback and change anything without re doing a full animation.
